GENERAL: Repost - Endometriosis or AdenomyosisFrom: Kim (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 24 Oct 2008 12:04:40 -0500 (CDT)
Okay, here's my dilemma: I had my left overy & tube, adhesions, and endometriosis removed in June via laparoscopy. Since then my bladder feels like it is spasming all the time, I have burning when I void, and then my bladder aches for awhile after I void. I have had a continuous thick, yellowish discharge with some intermittent spotting since the laparoscopy in June. I have a lot of vaginal burning. I still have horrendous cramps when I have my period and cramping throughout the month even when I'm not having my period, although it isn't as bad as it was before the surgery. My left side still aches, but not as bad as before the surgery. My urine has been tested three times for UTI, but it is "perfect" everytime. My gp did a pelvic exam and swab and said I had bacterial vaginosis about a month ago. I was treated for that, the symptoms did not go away. My urine was tested again, it was "perfect", so I was treated for possible yeast (no exam done that time)about 2 weeks ago. The symptoms still have not gone away. I went back to my gp today, he did another exam and tested my urine...everything looks "perfect". He says he doesn't understand why I have symptoms...there is no yeast, no vaginosis, no UTI, the ovary was removed so there is nothing to hurt on the left side...I had a colonoscopy before my laparoscopy and that was normal...no one can tell me why I am still having this pain and the other symptoms. The gyn who did the surgery said it could be scar tissue on the left side, but it will have to "strectch out". He also believes I may have adenomyosis, but says the only treatment is hysterectomy. I don't have children, so I don't want that. I am not currently sexually active, so I don't have an STD. Can scar tissue develop this quick and cause these symptoms? Is there really no treatment for adenomyosis? Would this also cause the bladder symptoms and vaginal discharge? Thanks for any answers you can give me.
