GENERAL: When is a D and C not advised for 80 yr old?

Mom (80) is basically incontinent, has major gait (balance issues), can barely walk, has carpal tunnel which makes taking care of her personal issues difficult and has mild memory loss. She has just had an abnormal pap smear and the doctors have advised endometrial biopsy and D and C to determine what is going on. We wonder if having her go thru this to find out she has cancer and then what? Would she be able to handle the treatments, etc? She refuses to have home health care tend to her daily needs now. If she has the D and C procedure, it may warrant having someone come in to tend to her already dibilitating incontienence issues. Any thoughts? Thanks!
