Re: PREGNANCY: contractions - im a first-timerFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netFri, 3 Oct 2008 07:46:14 -0500 (CDT)
The way to prevent this kind of experience is to first of all become very educated and informed about birthing. Occasionally birth happens very quickly, and basically is a normal event. When things happen fast like this, you just do the best you can. When you are pregnant, talk with your OB caregiver about what they recommend for you to come to the hospital if you think you are in labor. A good rule of thumb is 4-1-1...four minutes apart for one hour, a minute long. Usually they are regular, and have been in s somewhat regular pattern for awhile. No fears to panic if you prepare yourself for what is happening... Lots of great information out there...
