We do not test for low risk HPV because so many people have it.It is not harmful to est for this at all,but it leaves you with your question,Now what?Colposcopy is done because a Pap smear is a screening test and Colposcopy can direct areas of concern,to possibly have a biopsy taken.This does not mean cancer but may mean cell changes called Dysplasia.JoAnn NP
