Message posted on Ben Gocial, MD behalf by: Hope Waltman, Fibroids and Women’s Health Forum Moderator The hymen often breaks down irregularly and may leave what is called tags around the edges of the vaginal opening. I'm not sure what you mean by a septate hymen but it sounds like there may be an actual "bridging" of a tag across part of the vaginal opening. As this may be associated with a vaginal septum I would encourage you to ask about it the next time you have a gynecologic exam. With or without the vaginal septum, if vaginal intercourse is possible these type of findings should not interfere with sexual responsiveness or orgasm. Usually (if intercourse is possible) these types of findings need no treatment. In terms of the location of the clitorus, I would also pose that question during your next gynecologic exam. Lack of orgasm is usually not due to a physical or anatomic problem. I would recommend that all of the issues you raise be directed to an appropriate therapist. These can get too confusing to handle on your own.
