MENORRHAGIA: Vaginal Bleeding

I have an issue that involves many different factors. I am in my early 20s, I have been smoking since I was 17. I probably smoke 1 pack of cigarettes a week. My doctor gave me a birth control prescription good for 3 months, she said she didn't want to give me a prescription for anything longer than that until I can quit smoking. I tried to quit smoking so that I could start taking my birth control, but wasn't successful. There were some days where I would smoke and also take my birth control pill. I did not take my birth control correctly however, I missed days, even weeks, and could never stick to the same time everyday. When I would try to return to my pill schedule, I would take two pills during any given day to "catch up." I was so inconsistent though. I would take it one day and not again for another 3 weeks. Since I haven't been able to quit smoking, I decided to just stop taking the pill altogether. I have had unprotected sex since then and my partner ejaculated inside of me. However, after we had sex, I started my period, but it was late and lasted only three days (my periods usually last 5-7 days), for the three days though, it was the normal type of flow for me. Less than three weeks from the date I started that period, I began bleeding again, this is weird because my cycles are usually 30-33 days long. I feel like I was just bleeding. But this one is weird because the blood is bright red (which is not too unusual for me, but I know it is associated with certain conditions)and mixed with mucus. I have been passing large clots, but there is not a lot of blood on the pad that I'm wearing. Could I be pregnant? Or is it just the effects of my body trying to readjust my cycle without the birth control pill? Since I've been smoking for so long, is it possible for me to have some type of uterine cancer?
