MENORRHAGIA: irregular bleeding on Yaz away from home

I am an American who is away in Italy on a 2.5 week business trip, but I only have access to cities on the weekends and then I need to meet people for work. I have stayed for long periods of time in Italy before but I wasn't on birth control then. Now I am on Yaz.

I take my pill in the morning with breakfast and I shouldn't be having my period at all (I'm at the beginning of the cycle) but two days ago I started bleeding, and it's heavier than usual for "spotting", which occurred maybe once or twice in being on b-control over the last 9 months. It feels like I have cramps very low down and my stomach also hurts quite a bit (meaning higher up).

I don't really know what to do. Should I go off Yaz then go back on when I get home? Could it be caused by the change of diet? It's quite cold here and I find I am also having headaches in the morning. I brought lots of warm clothes and I haven't been on Yaz in the real winter before. Is it normal for your period to be affected by change in temperature? I usually don't have cramps this bad when I have my period. Could I be having a very young abortion? How serious could this be?

Please do respond, it would really help me. Italian hospitals are full of red-tape and my employer would have to take me there...I'm not exactly sure what I would have them test for.

Thanks very much, initalia
