Re: GENERAL: Diagnosing a yeast infectionFrom: Shelly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 25 Sep 2008 19:59:34 -0500 (CDT)
I saw my gyn today, and he also asked me about new soaps, detergents. I haven't used anything new or anticeptics or tape there, but...both times the rash started I was wearing the same pair of shorts, which are denium with lycra and are knee-lenth. The rash started fading again yesterday, and today it was back to a light brown again. The gyn said the scraping for a test had to be done on a raised edge of the rash, which is now gone. He agreed it also could be yeast. If it flairs again, I'm going to try to get into see my allergist or dermotologist and request the scraping for tests. The gyn said I could test for contact dermatitis from the shorts by putting a cream (that he prescribed) on one thigh and seeing if the other thigh flared. I plan to do that.
