Some people develop what we call stitch granulomas, essentially a low grade allergic reaction to the suture material. When this happens, the suture material does not dissolve and will become chronically irritated. Treatments include doing nothing, attacking the sutures as they 'come to the surface' and lastly, revising the entire incision, usually doing this with the next pregnancy/section...Dr. von Almen
