SURGERY: Swelling after surgeryFrom: Anonymous Jane (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 26 Aug 2008 20:54:21 -0500 (CDT)
I had excision surgery last thursday. they did a cystoscope with hydrodistension, removed appendix, uterus, endo . I came home friday night it was a 7 hr drive. We stopped every hour and I walked for about 5-10 min each time. I was placed on morphine er and ir for pain. Saturday morning I woke up to my ankles, feet, legs all the way to my hip swollen. I called the surgeon and they said they thought maybe it was just the excess fluid plus the travel that caused it. Told me if i was concerned or if it got worse to go to the er. I did and they checked for blood clots in the leg which was negative. sunday legs were still swollen that night i went into anaphalatic shock and required another trip to the er. They gave epinepherine, benadryl, xanax and narcaine to counteract the reaction. Im still experiencing swelling in my feet, legs, ankles etc. Is this normal? I plan on calling and making an appointment with my doctor tomorow but am unsure if I should see my family doctor or my gynecologist because I had surgery on my female organs. I have a post op appt scheduled for the 4th of sept with my gynecologist here.
