ONCOLOGY: andocarcinoma of the anterior vaginal wallFrom: fran (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 15 Aug 2008 08:08:18 -0500 (CDT)
I was diagnosed with primary cervical cancer and secondary vaginal cancer in 03/08. I have received external radiation and chemo for 8 wks. In 06/08 a follow up pet scan and mri was done. There were irregularities on the mri but pet scan showed nothing, and pap smear was normal. A biopsy was done on 07/08 and cells came back normal. Another biopsy was done 08/08 and I guess there was a false reading. This one shows cells in the anterior vaginal wall that i had when originally diagnosed. It seems to be a problematic area which has not cleared up. Surgery appears to be my only option now, but pelvic exenteration is being suggested. I am wondering if this is the only way to go. I cannot even fathom such an invasive procedure. Any comments or advice would be a comfort.
