CHRONICPAIN: Lower left pain, spotting and enlarged ovaryFrom: Chris (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 12 Aug 2008 16:10:51 -0500 (CDT)
I've been experiencing pain in my lower left quadrant for 2.5 months. It is sometimes a dull-ache (most often upong waking in the morning) and throughout the day it can feel sharp and knife-like (usually while sitting). I also have intermittent lower left back pain, which is not something new to me (years on and off). I went to my GYN who felt it was a muscle-related problem and referred me to a physical therapist. In the meantime, I started brown spotting on and off throughout the month and have yet to have my next period (not pregnant). Went back to GYN. Ultrasound revealed right ovary 1.9 x 1.6 x 2.5 and left ovary 2.7 x 3.5 x 2.9 "borderline enlarged" and both with "multiple follicles". No cysts or masses. A culture showed yeast and Strep B. My doc is not concerned. I am! She is going to perform a laprascopy and said possibility of endometriosis or adhesion from c-section. She thinks the irregular spotting could be from the infections. She calls the ultrasound report "totally normal" and doesn't seem to see what I see: left lower pain = left ovary enlarged! But, I'm not the one with the degree! Thoughts, please? Thank you in advance!
