MENORRHAGIA: enlarged uterus and endometrial hyperplasiaFrom: Heidi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 11 Aug 2008 19:38:35 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, I am a 34 year old female with 3 children. Since the birth of my third, my periods have become heavy and my cycle is between 21-24 days. Other symptoms are the usual ones, extreme fatigue and some emotional issues. At my last visit with the gyn, he ordered an ultrasound which showed an enlarged uterus and endometrial hyperplasia. He measured it at 12mm and said it should be 8mm. I will have an endometrial biopsy in about 3 weeks to check the lining. I am not sure what I should even be worried about at this point. He said that I am most likely perimenopausal and am not ovulating which is causing a lack of progesterone/estrogen dominance. Is it likely I could be perimenopausal at this age? What else could cause these findings? Thank you so much in advance?
-- Heidi
