STD: HPV???

I recently had a papsmear done. I admit, it's been 3 years since my last, but couldn't afford to do so until the past few weeks. I went to a clinic where I was provided poor service to begin with and a scare of high blood pressure, then a recheck and found it was fine. So I have great reason to be skeptical of this diagnosis.

When the clinic called me, the nurse started the call by saying I was a high risk factor of "getting" hpv. She proceeded further into the conversation by stating I was a risk of "having" the virus. Then while my questions ran further into the conversation, she used a scare tacktick (?) and stated they needed to referr me to a gyno immediatly because I would need cists removed. Obviously you can see my concern. Each phrase has a different meaning.

At this time, I understand that many places are trying to promote the new vaccine for this virus. In researching this virus, I have never had any of the symptoms (I also know that it can go undected) except for that I expressed concern for a vaginal odor (which I have found could be numerous other reasons than hpv). I am curious if this test could have come back abnormal because of an infection of some kind (I am prone to kidney and bladder infections often)? I just don't want to be scared of something that could be small.

Thanks for your time.
