Re: GYNECOLOGIC: Adhesions without prior surg. ?GYN related? From: Anon (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 3 Aug 2008 06:58:34 -0500 (CDT)
Mary, I have endometriosis. I also had adhesions with NO risk factors. I have never had ghonorea or clamidia or PID. I also had never had any abdominal surgery. I have medical paperwork/tests/cultures to back it up.My dh and I have been married for over 13 years and have been monogamous. Anyway, I had severe lower pelvic pain. My ob finally went in and did a lap. I had adhesions tying the left ovary and tube to the peritineum wall and bowel. My ob lysed the adhesions and pain was gone. Several months later it came back when a cyst burst and irritated the area. Another lap was done and scarring from endometriosis was present. At that point I demanded to see a pelvic pain specialist. When I saw the specialist, he said my adhesions were caused by endometriosis (Same thing my ob said as I had no risk factors either). He also said 90% of adhesions in women with no known risk factors are caused by endometriosis. He said the second lap confirmed it when the scarring from endo (which was not present before) was there. Just thought I would present another reason as to why.
