Re: GYNECOLOGIC: Adhesions without prior surg. ?GYN related? From: William F. von Almen, II, MD, FACOG (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 1 Aug 2008 20:11:59 -0500 (CDT)
MaryBar We call those Fitz-Hugh Curtis adhesions. They are classically from either gonorrhea or chlamydia. This is a result of the 'bug' getting from the tubes into the peritoneal cavity and settling up by the liver and causing the adhesions ( and it could have happened decades ago, and not resulted in true infertility). I have never done extensive research into the disease, but I suppose they could also be from any kind of intraabdominal infection that settled up by the liver...Dr. von Almen
