PREGNANCY: Question regarding cervixFrom: Amandine (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 1 Aug 2008 12:04:26 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, I am currently 39+1 weeks and am getting very tired of contractions which have no effect whatsoever on my cervix. I had an internal check today and my cervix hasn't changed in two weeks despite numerous contractions, long walks and having sex with my husband. It is slightly open on the external end (she can fit one finger) but close on the internal end. Baby's head is not pressing on the cervix yet. So she told me it's not going to happen tonight. Do you reckon it can happen this week still? Can the cervix open very fast? I am worried as well because they told me they won't induce me before week 42+3. But my first pregnancy ended up in a c-section, is it safe to wait that long? I mean the baby is big already and they don't seem to think that it could be a problem. Furthermore they told me they'll induce me like any other woman who didn't have a c-section before. Am I right to be slightly concerned? Also after my due date will pass I will only have one check-up at week 41+5 and that'll be it... Is that normal too? Thanks a lot for any answer you may provide!
