GYNECOLOGIC: Adhesions without prior surg. ?GYN related? From: MaryBar (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 1 Aug 2008 00:04:56 -0500 (CDT)
I am in need of some serious advice. I just had my gallbladder out a week ago. (Many stones.) The surgeon told me I had "extensive adhesions of the liver" indicating that at one time I must have had either PID, hepatitis or severe Mono. (!!) The problem is, I have zero risk factors/symptoms for any of those illnesses. I have been in a monogamous relationship for over 25 years, have never had mono (if I did, it was mild) and certainly don't have hepatitis. (Immunized to hep B, no known exposure or risk for A or C.) I am just stunned! When I asked him if anything else could have caused the adhesions he just shrugged and said "not really." I am ready to call my GYN and get in for a full set of cultures..I am now feeling paranoid and distrustful possibly needlessly. It's a terrible feeling. I live the most boring, clean life you can imagine. I've had three children without any problems or issues with fertility. (One would think if I had a massive pelvic infection that traveled all the way to my liver, I'd have some symptoms, as well as possibly blocked tubes, etc.) I'd REALLY appreciate some opinions on this. I'm at a loss. Thanks in advance for any input.
