I am a 35 year old lady who have been recently diagnosed with Chronic Cervicitis. I had been having a slightly bloody vaginal discharge just before my menstural periods start. This had been happening from past 3 years, and mistakingly i considered it to be a normal discharge before the start of periods. But from past one year this discharge advanced to a week before my periods. Also there used to be back pain and stomach pain which i again related to the normal menstural pains. However, with the advancement of the discharge to almost ten days prior to the periods, I consulted my gyneacologist, who immediately referred me for a biopsy of the cervix. She said it depicted as a cervix erosion and happened to be very hard and bloody by touch also. The biopsy also confirmed it to be chronic cervicits and i got slightly worried to the fact that the only option left out could be an operation.

What would be the other options for curing chronic cervictis? Is there any medicine that can help treat it? Also, heard from some one that hysterectomy would be necessary for treating this? How safe is this and what precautions should I be taking so that it doesnt repeat in future? Also could you please let me know about the side effects and the possible remedies for the same if I take treatment for this.
