PCOS: PCOS pain and bloating

Hello

I am hoping that somebody out there can help me to put my mind at rest...

I'm a 30 year old woman, whose cycle has always been about 35 days and has experienced very light periods for the last 5 years (only lasting 1 or 2 days).

Around 6 months ago, I experienced horrific pain in my lower abdomen and could hardly walk. I went to the doctors and after she performed an internal exam, could not find anything but noticed I had some bleeding. The pain lasted for weeks and was accompanied by severe bloating that made me look pregnant. Around ths same, I went on to miss a period. My doctor wasn't much help so I went privately for an (internal) ultrasound scan which didn't seem to show many signs of anything. The gynea did say that she suspected I had mild PCOS, but this needed to be confirmed with blood tests. I was then instructed to have blood tests on the 2nd day of my next period, which I did, although these results showed slightly high levels of one specific hormone (LH),I was told that there was nothing much to worry about.

I keep going back to the doctors about the pain because I'm worried it could be something more sinister. However, last time she fobbed me off and told me that the pain was due to weight gain and that the weight gain was putting pressure on my organs. I was so upset by this treatment. Although I have put on quite a bit of weight over the last 2 years, I am not particularly fat.

Every month, around the middle of the month (or somewhere in the 2nd half of the month), I begin to experience the same severe discomfort and extreme bloatedness. The pain is like terrible cramps (although slightly different to period pain) and it seems to be all across my lower abdomen, rather than on one side (which is what they is a typical symptom of PCOS pain). Not long after my period finishes, the pain goes away. However, the cycle then begins again and the pain starts in the 2nd half of the cycle.

Does anybody else experience anything like this? My doctor keeps sending me away feeling like a Hypocondriac, but I KNOW there is something wrong. Could this pain be associated with PCOS? Is this pain a classic symptom? I am extremely worried that it is something else, especially when the pain is all across the bottom of my lower abdomen rather than one on specific side.

Please can somebody offer some help or feedback on whether this is the kind of pain they experience with PCOS!!!!

Many thanks
