A pap smear with atypical cells which is High Risk HPV negative is important to follow up with a repeat pap smear in 4 to 6 months. Bleeding after sex could be due to infection, irregular use of birth control pills,or cervical disease.Post coital bleeding (bleeding after sex) is one of the 3 indications for Colposcopy. The pap smear result you describe is not . If the bleeding persists ,Colposcopy is recommended because of bleeding after sex. JoAnn NP
