Re: HYSTERECTOMY: Post op hysterectomy and was told I have a cyst in my vaginaFrom: William F. von Almen, II, MD, FACOG (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 25 Jun 2008 17:18:53 -0500 (CDT)
Roo I would bet it is a mucosal inclusion cyst. It can happen after delivery, hysterectomies and the like. The vaginal mucosa (skin) is filled with mucous secreting cells. They lubricate the vagina. If some of that tissue gets folded under, it will continue to produce mucous some times. It can produce so much that it will form a cyst. Sometimes lancing it helps, sometimes it just heals back over and you are back to square one. This is nothing you or your doc did, it just happened. Don't fret about this, let your doc fix it for you...Dr. von Almen
