PREGNANCY: Holding your breath?

Hi, I am 14 weeks pregnant with twins. This weekend I developed a VERY bad cold, and ended up with totally clogged ears. In an effort to try to pop them so that I could hear, I tried plugging my nose and blowing which in turn meant I held my breath for a few seconds. After doing this throughout the day, my mind started reeling and I started worrying that in the few seconds I tried to pop them, I cut off oxygen to the babies. I read on the internet and this forum in previous posts to limit any exercise where you hold your breath. Is this the same thing? Could I possibly have done any damage to the babies? Just another worried mom!
