Re: ENDOMETRIOSIS: Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction in a non-pregnant woman Dr. GoldfarbFrom: TaraRN (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 7 Jun 2008 02:37:40 -0500 (CDT)
Thank you for answering. I think I was misunderstood. I have been on continuous bcp's for endo for over six years. My gynecologist now has three women who have loose ligaments/pelvic structure. Mine happens to put my left hip back into my tailbone. My crazy theory is that prolonged hormonal treatment could act like Relaxin hormone during pregnancy and loosen up pelvic joints and ligaments. I have had a few doctors tell me it's a long shot, but plausible. If you ask me, I'm a believer. After two weeks off of the pill I have less cracking of the SI joints, symph. pubis, and my hip pain is lessening greatly. No pain today and this is the first day in over six months! I have gone through hell. The prolonged use of bcp's in this manner has not been studied over long periods of many years. It scares me to think of the new no period pill (Lytrel?) or something like that, being tested on a few thousand women for a year. What about year five and six like us? We are endo crash test dummies! Thanks again, Tara,RN,BSN,CCRN
