ADHESIONS: Post period/pre ovulation painFrom: AEKG (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 4 Jun 2008 11:42:34 -0500 (CDT)
I am 40 yrs old with a history of what was described after a lap as moderate to severe endo with adhesions. Fortunately, I do not have significant cramping or pain from my endo. I have 2 children by c-section in 2004 and 2006. For the past few months, I have noticed that about a week after my period, I get a dull, aching, fairly uncomfortable feeling in the area where my ovaries are (the same place my doc palpates during the internal exam). I presume that this week in my cycle is when the follicles are maturing and maybe the ovaries are increasing in size or swelling somewhat, but I am puzzled as to why my ovaries are hurting so much and I am wondering if they could be caught up in adhesions? I do get pretty intense sensations when I ovulate - kind of a build-up of pain and then a sharper pain, and then everything kind of goes back to "normal". I don't recall feeling this discomfort prior to ovulation in the past, so I'm wondering what is going on. My main guess is maybe adhesions are causing the problem? Would there be another explanation?
