There is about a million to one odds that your doctor was doing anything other than trying to help you relax. He was probably more nervous than you, since no doctor I know wants to cause pain or likes seeing patients uncomfortable. It does not, however, sound like he did a good job working with you to make the situation better. I disagree with calling patients pet names, but unfortunately (in my opinion) many doctors, both male and female, and a lot of nurses, seem to persist in doing this. I have always found that it works best to just be honest and say "it seems like you are very uncomfortable. Is this causing you pain?"). If so, I stop the exam, we talk about it, and invariably the remainder of the exam goes without difficulty. Further, some exams take longer because of what you are trying to diagnose. There are a lot of muscles and organs surrounding the vagina and some exams, particularly when you are trying to diagnose pelvic pain, take longer than annual checkup exams. Regardless, please let any doctor or nurse know when something is causing you pain or does not seem right. Best wishes,
