Re: CHRONICPAIN: lifelong severe primary dysmenorrhea (i.e., no endo)From: carolyn johnson (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 29 May 2008 20:12:49 -0500 (CDT)
thanks for your response, AmyAngel! yes, i am lucky that my doctor now takes me seriously and wants to help -- but you see how long it's taken me -- i.e., i am about 20 years older than you are. my doctor was slow to believe me as well, and i endured many years of having her (and others) tell me to try exercising more, try some motrin, etc. i finally said to her, nearly in tears, that i shouldn't have to go on until menopause this way... and she agreed to try some unconventional treatments. as i mentioned,i have actually had a really good year -- i've never before had a year like this without unpredictable labor-like contractions disrupting my life! i'm really hoping that others with our unusual symptoms will write in, and/or that one of the doctors will register an opinion. you know that look that people give you when you say that you have cramps? like, big deal, take a midol! well, there are some of us who have some other, truly disabling version of cramps (that can come whether you have your period or not) .... i'm hoping that some ob/gyn will want to help us figure it out. again, i really appreciate hearing from you -- thanks for taking the time to write.
