ARTICLE: IUD therapy alleviates adenomyosis symptomsFrom: Hope Waltman (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 27 May 2008 09:32:27 -0500 (CDT)
"NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Insertion of an intrauterine device that releases the hormone levonorgestrel may provide long-term relief for women with painful periods and abnormally heavy periods due to adenomyosis, doctors from Korea report. Adenomyosis, a form of endometriosis, is a disorder in which the cells lining the uterus invade the deeper muscular layers of the uterus. In some women, adenomyosis is silent, causing no signs or symptoms, while in others, there may be pain and heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding." http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/news/fullstory_65021.html Photos graphic in nature: http://www.lapscope.com/adenomyosis.htm Regards, Hope Waltman, Fibroid Forum and WH Forum Moderator http://www.hopeforfibroids.org http://www.doctorsinfoweb.com/doctors.htm UTERINE FIBROIDS INFO: http://www.obgyn.net/fibroid-resource-center/ http://www.obgyn.net/fibroid-resource-center/?page=articles/patient_articles
