Hello, I am 40 years old and was diagnosed with endometriosis about 10 years ago. Since then, I have had six laser laparoscopies to remove endometriosis and adhesions. I was taking Depo Provera until about 1 year ago, because I was trying to lose weight and couldn't seem to do it as long as I was taking it. I have never been sexually active. Recently (about 6 months ago) I started having pelvic pain again and lots of cramping with my periods. Since then, it has gotten progressively worse...the pain is all the time, but a lot worse during my period. My periods are now anywhere from 20-30 days apart and last 7-10 days. They are very, very heavy. I have developed fevers and I also have a lot of pain in my waist on the left side. The pain sometimes goes through to my back. I recently finished treatment for a UTI, and the pain just kept getting worse. So, Sunday I ended up in the ER. The doctor thought I had a kidney stone, so he did a CT. He also did a pelvic exam, which was extremely painful. The doctor said the only thing he saw during the pelvic exam was a yeast infection. The CT was fine, with the exception of enlarged lymph nodes in my abdomen, consistent with mesenteric adnitis. I then had a colonoscopy and endoscopy, which were both fine. The doctor believes this is all from the endometriosis. I never thought endo could cause fevers, heavy bleeding, and irregular periods. He thinks it would be wise to see a gynecologist and have another laparoscopy done. I am afraid to do this because we live in a very small town where the gynecologists always want to do a hysterectomy for endometriosis, and even though I am 40, I am not ready for that yet. The specialist I was seeing has now moved. Also, could endometriosis cause enlarged lymph nodes? How much damage can endometriosis do? Thanks!
