Because the cervix is an organ that is constantly rebuilding, it has the
tendency to become very engorged with blood vessels and immature tissue.
It can then bleed very easy. It is not a true infection. Some say it
is hormonal changes, but we all have groups of women that have very
freely bleeding cervices. The old gynecologists used to burn them, but
I am not sure that helped any more than just watching them...Dr. von
