ONCOLOGY: Inactive Endometrium with MetaplasiaFrom: Lisa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri May 16 16:11:08 2008
History: Just turned 52 in Feb. 08. Oct. 07 I was one year without menstruation and had annual pap. Results were atypical/precancerous cells, but told not to worry. Nov 07, heavy bleeding for 8 days. Called OBGYN and she ordered a ultrasound. Now we are into December. Ultrasound revealed 3mm cyst on left ovary/uterous 2.5mm. Another sonogram is ordered for May. May sonogram reveals slight growth of septated cyst (fluid filled) on left ovary and new 1.5 mm cyst on right ovary. Cysts show no vascularity. In addition, uterus lining is 10mm (double expected size of menopausal woman). Continue to have tender breast monthly, and leg cramping, as if premenstrual. D&C is performed following week, OBGYN says uterus is back to thin and looks fine. Results: Inactive endometrium with metaplasia. Am I okay? I'm assuming all this is to say my uterus is getting old. But what is fueling the growth of the cysts on my ovaries. And the shifting size of my uterus? I ordered my own FSH, which is 43.1 (over 23 is menopausal), and CA 125 which is 7.8 (over 30 is abnormal). They would not order these tests for me. Said they couldn't justify, but I needed to know more to feel better. Any observations would be appreciated.
