Very serious athletes as Ballet dancers often have osteoporosis and amenorrhea. I think your MD has a good idea. I'm sure your bones will catch up. He should order an FSH and Estrogen levels prior to placing you on the pills. You should also have an ultrasound to insure your organs are normal.
