Adenomyosis was once known as endometriosis interna. It is Endometriosis that is in the uterine muscle. The only cure for Adeno is hysterectomy and the only way to truly diagnose it is through pathology following a hyst. Some Docs are using MRI, however, the technology just isn't there yet. I had a hyst in Nov 2007 for Adenomyosis. It was first suspected at my lap with Dr. Albee in 1998 from the appearance of my uterus as well as my physical exam.
