PREGNANCY: Blood Pressure Meds safe for Pregnancy?

I have had high blood pressure for 16 years since the age of 23, under control with medication.

Is there a definitive list of medications that are safe to take before and during pregnancy?

A search of the obgyn.net rchives indicates that Aldomet (Methyldopa) is safe, which is what my doctors recommended. My medication was first changed when I started IVF treatment in 2006 and I was put on Corbeton (Oxprenolol). In 2007 my doctor (GP and Renal doctor) added Aldomet and Hydralazine (Alphapress)- increasing to the maximum dosages for each - all 3 at the same time. None could control my BP nd I had to cancel my IVF cycle.

My BP is now under control, but with meds not safe for pregnancy. Weight loss over the years has not made any difference to my BP, although I am currently losing weight and getting healthier since being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes last year (now on Metformin).

I would like to give IVF one last try, but need to be on different meds in anticipation of IVF being successful. I keep reading that there are alternatives to Aldomet, but what *are* they? Is there anything left that I can take or should I give up now?
