Re: PREGNANCY: Abnormal Bleeding after ChildbirthFrom: William F. von Almen, II, MD, FACOG (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 24 Apr 2008 20:49:12 -0500 (CDT)
Toni I have no absolute answer, but several ideas. First is that you have some sort of coagulation abnormality, such as von Willebrands. You could ask your doc to refer you to a hematologist and have this checked out. However, do not go until you are at least 3 months postpartal so your real coagulation profile will show. The other problem is a 'comsumptive coagulopathy', or a form of DIC. Speak to your doc about this, but I would not blame this until I was sure I did not have #1 #1 will recur with next pregnancy, #2 likely will not...Dr. von Almen
