I'm 29 and had irregular periods in the past but since coming off of depo a couple of years ago, my periods have slowly regulated over time. My fiance and I decided to start trying to conceive a couple of months ago. My last period was February 23. I wasn't BBT charting then but I had other physical symptoms of ovulation... fertile cervical mucus, high and open cervix and *very* light ovarian cramps. I was due for my next period on March 21 but it never happened. I took 3 pregnancy tests over the course of 3 weeks after that and they were all negative. I also began charting my BBT. According to BBT, cervical position and cervical mucus, I most definitely ovulated on March 29 and was due for my period on April 13 but I seem to be a week and 1/2 late. I took a mid-stream HPT first thing yesterday morning and it was negative. I have the standard pre-menstral/early pregnancy symptoms of sore breasts, frequent urination and mood swings, but I understand that these are not definitive of pregnancy or lack thereof. I don't have the premenstrual acne that I usually have nor do I have the lower back pain and cramps that I usually have with menstruation. In the past, my periods were *always* accompanied by extreme cramps, 3 day long periods of light/average bleeding (I could go up to 8 hours without changing a tampon and not bleed through), extreme back pain that could only be eased with pain medication, severe mood swings and acne. Basically, I guess the question is: If I didn't ovulate last month and did this month, wouldn't that trigger a heavier period (with 2 months worth of lining to flush rather than 1) or is there something else going on? Is it possible to have all the symptoms of ovulation, including thermal shift, and not actually ovulate? Thank you in advance.
