Ann,

I understand what you are saying. While it wasn't a GYN Exam, I had a dentist yell at me when I was all of 11 years old because after 2 hours in the dental chair, I was getting anxious and wanted out! After being yelled at, I went from loving to go to the dentist to absolutely hating it and having to have my parents drag me. It wasn't until I/we finally found a dentist who was caring, compassionate, calming, etc. that I got over my horrible fear. While it is still something I really don't want to deal with, I am better with it and can walk in without much hesitation.

Since you are going to your Dr. that you do trust and like and still have problems, I recommend seeking out a therapist who can help you confront your fears and get passed them. Again, I know it is not easy...it is very hard, but it can happen. While it may not happen in time for your next appointment, hopefully it will work in time for your appt. next year.

In the meantime, I'm sure you've discussed this with your current doc. If not, I beg you to do so. He may be able to give you something to help relax you. There are mild medications that can help with your anxiety.

What your previous MD did was horrible and never should have happened, but just remember, there are still some very caring MDs out there...far more caring MDs than the one you had or the Dentist I had!!!!!

I hope this helps you!!
