CHRONICPAIN: Cysts gone, so why am I still in excruciating pain??From: SadOne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 17 Apr 2008 13:12:35 -0500 (CDT)
Had a followup u/s yesterday after 6 weeks of using birth control pills to try to shrink the four ovarian cysts. It apparently worked because all the measurements went down roughly 50% and 2 of the cysts on the right ovary were gone. One cyst remains on the right but is small according to the tech. No mention of what was going on with the left ovary -- but considering she said she couldn't find the left ovary at first and "it would be obvious and easy to find the ovary if there were a cyst" according to her, I guess that means nothing was going on on that side anymore. Under the guidelines, she really wasn't supposed to interpret the ultrasound or say anything, and I REALLY wish she hadn't felt the need to tell me the results because now I'm really upset and have to wait another week before my doctor's appointment to find out the results (which I guess at this point is obsolete since the tech already blabbed). The problem for me is that I am still in terrible pain, especially on the left side. It wakes me at night, movement such as walking/exercising/daily household chores causes excruciating pain, and it feels like someone took a tube of superglue and dumped it down the left side of my pelvis. The right side is just a burning goes from the pelvis into the hip. I just don't see how I can be in this much pain if the cysts are gone. The pain is actually worse now than it was 6 weeks ago. What could be causing the pain? In the last year I've had a cystectomy and a hysterectomy (6 months apart) and I thought that would end all the pain, but here I am 5 months later in worse pain than ever.
