We generally consider group B strep to only be an issue with pregnant
women. I have found that some women with chronic infections that do not
fit into the typical 'big 3' vaginitis problems will sometimes culture
out group B strep. I have found that giving antibiotics can help them,
but it is a chronic problem. We know very little about it, so there is
really no data out there, thus the reason for your confusion. For these
patients, I try to rule out other organisms, and then treat the group B
strep as a 'last resort'...Dr. von Almen
