ULTRASOUND: recent u/s findings - complacent dr.From: anonymous@obgyn.netFri, 28 Mar 2008 08:13:52 -0500 (CDT)
Hello: After more than 2 weeks of consistent pelvic/lower back pain, I went to my OB/Gyn. He order a transvaginal u/s and after having to practically beg (!) for my results (they would not call me back after repeated requests 5 days after the scan), he finally called. I should note that during our conversation, he was very non-concerned and even came across as a little irritated. Taken directly from my printed report: "There is a cystic area within the endometrial cavity and is an anechoic space measuring 7mm x 6mm x 8mm. This is within the endometrial cavity with thickening of the endometrial stripe measuring 13mm. This may be loculated, however, early pregnancy cannot be excluded and follow up examination is highly recommended. There is also a moderate amount of fluid found in the posterior cul de sac." So he tells me (ever so causally and complacently) that we need to rule out pregnancy. We have 4 beautiful children and have no desire for more, so this shocked me as it would be a VERY slim chance that I could be. I asked him about the fluid, and he said "it's likely blood cased by endo". (??) That's about as far as he went. He recommended throwing me on some form of BC after I had already expressed to him my desire NOT to (personal choice). He essentially left it that I do not need to make an appointment unless I a) want to get on BC, b) have more pain (hello? it's consistent and daily), or c) find out that I am pregnant. I feel very confused, frustrated and disappointed in his reaction and lack of concern. I have read that several of my symptoms could very well mean an ectopic pgy, and that concerns me as I had a salpingectomy (left side) in 2004 due to an EP. Where is my pain? On the left (but no tube?), but radiating across my uterus and to my back. Apologies for the long-windedness of this post! I appreciate any help, suggestions or advice as the ER is my next stop if this excruciating pain persists.
