ULTRASOUND: 6.5cm Cyst- 6 Weeks PregnantFrom: Katherine (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 27 Mar 2008 12:22:04 -0500 (CDT)
Hello, I had an ultrasound a week ago, and I had a cyst that measured 4.5cms on my right ovary. I went back today, saw the babies heartbeat, 111bpm, and the cyst was even bigger, 6.5cm! I am going back in a week to see if it has gotten bigger or started to go away. The dr said she will monitor it, and if it doesn't go away or gets bigger, I would need to have it surgically removed during my 2nd trimester. I asked if any of this was bad for the baby, she said no, the cyst is on the ovary, the baby is in the uterus, and protected by the uterine wall. My question is what are the risks to the pregnancy with this cyst? Do they generally go away on their own? I've had cysts before and they've always ruptured on their own resulting in a trip to the ER because of the pain, but they've never been bigger than 4-5cms. Please help!
-- Thank you!!!
