GYNECOLOGIC: Cervicitis??From: H (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 26 Mar 2008 06:49:54 -0500 (CDT)
My problem started with a case of cervicitis (bacterial infection of the cervix) at least that is what I was finally diagnosed with-strep B and bacteria. After several courses of antibiotic treatments (vaginally and orally) and yeast treatements (vaginally and orally) all signs of infection seem to be gone. I have experienced some amount of irritation (itching and burning but it is much more mild than before). I went in a month ago and my gynecologist said everything appeared normal. The other thing I get is a strange sensation of nerve vibrations in my pubic area. I have not found anything anywhere that would explain what would cause this but I feel rather distressed about this as well as the irritation that comes and goes from time to time. The gynecologist that initially diagnosed me was filling in for someone else and is retired so I cannot go back to him. The other one that I saw recently I almost didn't feel took me seriously so now I'm at loss about what to do. I'm considering going elsewhere for yet another opinion. I'm almost afraid that all of this is just in my head now and I'm paranoid about it. Does anyone have any advice? It took almost 6 months to get this all diagnosed and I am having a lot of anxiety problems since then. I saw 3 GPs and none of them could diagnose anything except that they thought the irritation might be skin irritation problem. I have also seen the 2 gynecologists--the one that diagnosed and treated me for cervicitis and followed up about a month ago with other one. She didn't see anything wrong and also seemed to question whether strep B had anything to do with my problem. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm considering getting another opinion but I'm just so tired of all of it.
