Re: GYNECOLOGIC: Vaginal Opening appearing to be closing? Please help

If this is HPV, how long can the actual latency period be before genital warts appear? My research so far has only stated that it could be "several weeks or several years"? Could I have contracted this over a decade ago and it has remained latent in my system, without symptoms, but brought on, say, by a lowered immune system, childbirth, etc.? Or, am I likely dealing with the fact that I have contracted it more frequently, only wasn't aware of it (e.g. from my husband)? Also, given that men more typically don't show symptoms (as far as I know), is it possible that my husband contracted it and passed it on to me? Is the latency period about the same for men and women? Thank-you, again, for your help.
