Re: PREGNANCY: PIH, IUGR & Steroids

One more question ... last night I woke up with severe swelling in my hands (much more so than usual) and sharp knife pains going down to my finger tips. I weighed myself and I'd gained 3 pounds in one day. It eventually went away and by this morning I was back down those 3 pounds. I had the second shot today and now my face and neck are the body parts swelling up. I called my OB's office and the phone nurse said that it was likely a side effect from the steroid shots. I don't have abdominal pain (other than nagging heartburn that goes away for a little while when I take Tums) and my BP has been fairly stable in the 130/85 to 145/95 range for most of the day if I'm lying down (I monitor it with a home monitor). I do have a nagging headache but it's not severe and doesn't feel any different then the headaches I've had for the entire pregnancy. I'm not seeing spots either. Now that it's after hours, should I go to OB triage and have check my urine for excessive protein to rule out that as a cause for the swelling or just assume that it's the steroid shots? I just dipped 1+ yesterday at the OB.
