Aygestin is progesterone and will antagonize the excess estrogen. I usually give it every month, not just one, but he may just want to see if it works, then gets bad again. It can also be used to start a period as well.

You may want to consider a longer term therapy, such as the mirena iud which is progesterone containing or an endometrial ablation. Talk to your doc when you go back in about these options...Dr. von Almen
