Re: GYNECOLOGIC: vaginal irritation for over 6 months.....need dr. answer if possibleFrom: anon (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 24 Mar 2008 19:26:23 -0500 (CDT)
Have you had any answers to this?I am exactly feeling the same thing- 5 months of irritation-have been perscribed tons of creams-then felt too dry all the time- using a&d and seems to work for a bit but i want an answer to all this.so sudden out of nowhere. all STDs came neg. im sorry i dont see how anyone could find the smell of baby diaper rash cream at all sxy dont want life long a&d applications. i am now paying all out of pocket and feel like theres nothing more i can do.. please help and let me know what is going on now. Med. history that may or may not be relevant....have no uterus, had vaginal reconstruction at age 19. All normal until now. The problem now: Had been on flagyl intermittently for a year for an intestinal problem...no problems. In May, washed with Dove soap, probably didn't rinse well, had intercourse . Developed a yeast infection. Used Monistat 1. Burned terribly... gyno. prescribed Terazol. All good. A month later, after having intercourse developed another yeast infection. Dr. wanted to see me....said it looked like just an irritation, but cultured . It was yeast and BV...never had BV, nor any symptoms...Dr. was puzzled since I had just been on Flagyl. Prescribed Cleocin cream for 7 days, then Terazol for 7. Used Cleocin for 7 and started Terazol on 8th day. Terrible burning and itching ...., dr. told me to stop Terazol....examined again, saw a white area at vaginal opening. My thinking is some kind of chemical burn as the white area is now gone. Told to use A&D . Seemed to clear in a few days . All cultures normal. It started again a few days later..prescribed Synalar... intstructed to taper over 5 weeks. Seemed ok...even had intercourse....the last 2 weeks of Synalar, it started stinging again....culture showed yeast AGAIN given Diflucan. Referred to specialist....happened to feel good that week..cultures all normal. Felt pretty good....even had intercourse. Then it flared again... ....It has been an ongoing thing since then...back and forth to specialist, 2 hrs. away. First he diagnosed it as lichen simplex, but has since said recanted... symptoms aren't consistent with that. Dr. said I probably became sensitive to yeast from being on Flagyl . It seems to clear, then flares for no reason. Put on Cromolyn cream....seemed to be good for a few weeks, then flared again. Flared terribly after last visit to specialist...that night it started and lasted for about 2 weeks...thinking it may be the lubricating jelly since it seemed to flare up after using KY for intercourse....or even the latex gloves. Right now using A&D only.....discovered that there is a lot of soap residue in panties from using too much detergent in front load washer....so now I'm washing panties by hand in sink with baking soda or vinegar. My guess at this point is I have become chemically sensitive to just about anything. The specialist is supposedly one of the top in the country, yet he hasn't seem to be able to offer any thoughts. I don't go back to specialist for another month...still on Diflucan....is this something that will ever go away? Could it have been all the creams and now I am so sensitive to even the slightest soap residue? I haven't had intercourse since Nov. and I'm so tired of itching and burning, being uncomfortable when I sit or walk,
