GYNECOLOGIC: Vaginal Opening appearing to be closing? Please helpFrom: Kobi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 24 Mar 2008 09:43:13 -0500 (CDT)
I am really hoping someone can help me; my general concern is surrounding some strange discharge and growths in and around my vagina. Here's a timeline of what has been concerning me: 1) approximately 8 weeks ago, I developed what I believe was a yeast infection (symptoms characteristic of this); I had to treat it twice to eliminate it (once with Monistat 3-day, followed by the 7-day - it went away; 2) approximately 1-2 weeks later I noticed two growths on my labia; they have not yet gone away; they look more like small, triangular "flaps" of skin - approximately 1/8th and 1/4 inch long; 3) around 4 weeks after that, I began having a brown discharge; I still have it and it appears to be getting worse. I went to my doctor a few days ago; she suggested that the discharge might be hormonal, and sent me for bloodwork. She also did a PAP. When she looked at the growths, she said that one was a wart, and the other looked like a cyst. I am questioning this because, upon my close inspection, they look like they are the same type of growth (not different); they only differ in their size. She has made a referral to a gyno, but I have not yet heard back as to an appointment. My most concerning issue is that, last night, I noticed that, at the entry to my vagina, it appears to be "closing". Growths, or large lumps (not small bumps)which appear to be in a "clumping" kind of structure are there. It is to the extent that I am having some difficulties getting a tampon inserted. I should also note that I had a baby 7 months ago and noticed these vaginal lumps (i.e. smaller opening)around 2 - 3 months postpartum, but attributed it to changes as a result of delivery (and, also, that I perhaps was recalling what my vagina looked like previously) Has anyone had anything similar to this? I am becoming increasingly concerned that it might be vaginal tumours, or something like that. PLEASE HELP!
