MENORRHAGIA: many things months following miscarriage... is it normal?

I had a miscarriage at only about 4 weeks in January. Last month my period lasted a little longer then normal and I had one day of lots of clots and pain. I got my period on Thursday with the worse pain I've ever had, primarily on the right side and it hurt to even walk. I also had extremely heavy bleeding and many lasrge clots. I have a history of endometriosis (have had three laprocopies, last one in April '07) and ovarian cysts. My gyno. wasn't in the office, but I was rushed in to see a nurse practioner. She did an exam and quick ultrasound, said there are a few little cysts (nothing to cause this much pain) and gave me pain meds. Her ideas was that either it is my body reacting to the miscarriage. or that the enodmetrisois may be back and that I am not on the bcp or anything to suppress it like I used to be. She recommended that I may want to get an MRI or more thorough ultrasound. Does this make sense? Is it normal after a miscarriage to have such intense pain and bleeding? I've read online a lot about hormonal deficiencies. Could this have anything to do with it? With all of the tests/procedures I've been through I don't think the hormones have ever really been tested.

Thanks for reading this. I know it was kind of long. Any advice is appreciated, as I don't know how much more I can go through.
