HYSTERECTOMY: Keeping the Cervix With Vaginal Hysterectomy?

I was under the impression that the only types of hysterectomies that allow for the cervix to be kept are abdominal or laparoscopic subcervical hysterectomy. But someone I know is claiming that the cervix can be kept with a vaginal hysterectomy as well. Is this really possible? I can't find any information to support this.
