INFERTILITY: CD 21 Progesterone LevelFrom: Lindsey (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 29 Feb 2008 18:58:05 -0600 (CST)
I'm currently in my first month on Clomid. I did 50mg on days 5-9 of my cycle. I did not chart or use OPKs this month, but I did monitor my cervical position and cervical fluid. I had scant watery cervical fluid until CD 22, when I had a large amount of lotiony fluid. On CD 21, I had some moderate cramping that lasted about an hour, and a high, soft, and open cervix. Going by those clues, if I ovulated it was on CD 21. My doctor had me get my progesterone level check on day 21, and it came back as a very low 2.3. I told the office that I suspected that I ovulated on CD 21 and asked if I could get my progesterone levels checked again on CD 28, but my doctor said that it wasn't necessary. He said that I didn't ovulate this month, and that he's going to up my dose to 100mg for the next cycle. Am I getting bad advice from my doctor? From what I've read, Clomid is notorious for sometimes causing late ovulation, and when I concieved my first child naturally, I ovulated on CD 21. If I ovulated late, then to get an accurate result, I should have the levels checked later, correct?
